Laleeta Tongo

About Laleeta

Laleeta Tongo is a writer, artist, and creative thinker who believes in the power of storytelling to inspire, connect, and bring about change. Originally from a small town in Maharashtra, India, she now lives in the United States. Coming from a family of artists, she was always surrounded by creativity, literature, and artistic expression.

Her grandfather, the late Shri Sharadchandra Tongo, was a well-known Marathi novelist, and his legacy greatly influenced her passion for writing. From a young age, she found joy in observing life, capturing emotions, and weaving them into poetry and stories. Although she hesitated to share her work with the world at first, she soon realized that her words resonated with people and helped them connect with their own thoughts and emotions.

The Big World Studios

Laleeta studied English Literature and later built a successful career as a content developer and curriculum designer for multinational companies. For over 15 years, she used her writing skills to educate, inform, and engage different audiences.

In 2017, she co-founded The Big World Studios, a media production company in Pune, India. Alongside filmmaker and co-founder Swapnil Kumawat, she explored the world of visual storytelling, creating short films, promotional videos, and feature-length Marathi films. Together, they also worked on “Elements of Design” — a series of exhibitions showcasing the beauty of artistic expression through different mediums.

Her creative process is deeply influenced by nature, music, human emotions, and everyday experiences. She often writes about relationships, identity, love, happiness, spirituality, and life’s fleeting moments. Poetry is especially close to her heart, as it allows her to express deep emotions with simplicity and grace.

In addition to her published works, Laleeta plays a key role in conceptualizing and writing ad films, collaborating with The Big World Studios to craft compelling brand narratives. Her words shape engaging, elegant, and impactful advertising campaigns for some of the biggest brands and production houses in the industry.

Her books, including When I Hear Shakespeare and If I Knew I Was A Writer Too, reflect her passion for poetry and storytelling, while her ad film scripts bring brands to life in the commercial world.

Glimpses of Her Work

SHE IS THE TRUTH

Has she allowed herself to be won?
She is quite similar to the truth –
right there but difficult to understand.
Difficult to understand by not even her parents,
but a man too, whom she calls her world,
But a man whom she calls her world never pronounced this before,
or thought or put this up for interrogation.

Or even if he put this up for interrogation,
still every generation is so confused
and answered as if they were the first to discern.
First, to discern yet so transitory, men almost felt that paltry,
and delusional women have no source.

If women have no source in the vision of the wise men,
then why do they drift into insanity and come back to us again?
The falseness of an opinion is not for us any objection,
we tend to see the world beyond logic.
The world beyond logic is the opposite of prejudice,
where the heart’s desire is abstract and undefined.

However abstract and undefined proved to be women’s existence,
the truth shall remain no distant.
The non-distant truth is shown by the fountain of youth,
those unskilled methods of winning her consistent.

Winning her consistent is the only prized possession,
then what happens to your awe-inspiring, knowledge-finding quest?
Tell me, has she allowed herself to be won?
Because SHE IS THE TRUTH - right there but difficult to understand.
